Adiabatic Cooling of Antiprotons
Gerald Gabrielse,W. S. Kolthammer,R. McConnell,Philip Richerme,R. Kalra,E. Novitski,D. Grzonka,W. Oelert,T. Sefzick,Marcin Zieliński,D. W. Fitzakerley,M. C. George,E. A. Hessels,C. H. Storry,Matthew Weel,A. Müllers,Jochen Walz +16 more
TL;DR: Adiabatic cooling is shown to be a simple and effective method to cool many charged particles in a trap to very low temperatures and a significant advantage for rare particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
High efficiency positron accumulation for high-precision magnetic moment experiments
TL;DR: Positrons are accumulated within a Penning trap designed to make more precise measurements of the positron and electron magnetic moments, and the retractable radioactive source used is weak enough to require no license for handling radioactive material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electron Radiated Power in Cyclotron Radiation Emission Spectroscopy Experiments
A. Ashtari Esfahani,Vikas Bansal,Sebastian Böser,N. Buzinsky,R. Cervantes,C. Claessens,L. de Viveiros,P. J. Doe,Martin Fertl,Joseph A. Formaggio,L. Gladstone,Mathieu Guigue,Mathieu Guigue,K. M. Zayas +41 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived the expected radio-frequency signal from an electron in a waveguide cyclotron radiation emission spectroscopy (CRES) apparatus from first principles and demonstrated that the frequency-domain signal is rich in information about the electron's kinematic parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Efficiency Positron Accumulation for High-Precision Measurements
TL;DR: In this article, a penning trap was used to make more precise measurements of the positron and electron magnetic moments, and the retractable radioactive source used is weak enough to require no license for handling radioactive material and the radiation dosage one meter from the source gives an exposure several times smaller than the average radiation dose on the earth's surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Centrifugal Separation of Antiprotons and Electrons
Gerald Gabrielse,W. S. Kolthammer,R. McConnell,Philip Richerme,Jonathan Wrubel,R. Kalra,E. Novitski,D. Grzonka,W. Oelert,T. Sefzick,Marcin Zieliński,J. S. Borbely,D. W. Fitzakerley,M. C. George,E. A. Hessels,C. H. Storry,Matthew Weel,A. Müllers,Jochen Walz,Andrew Speck +19 more
TL;DR: Centrifugal separation of antiprotons and electrons is observed, the first such demonstration with particles that cannot be laser cooled or optically imaged, and suggests a new approach for isolating low energy antiprotsons and for producing a controlled mixture of antip rotations.
