Jets from young stars - CCD imaging, long-slit spectroscopy, and interpretation of existing data
TL;DR: In this article, a detailed list of observational criteria describing high-velocity jets and collimated outflows is presented. And a physical description and interpretation is presented which discusses the origin of knots in these jets and other structures, the relationship between jets and Herbig-Haro objects, the dissipation of energy along the jet due to internal shocks, physical parameters, relationship of optical jets to molecular outflows, and time scales for outflow activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Jets from young stars: the case of R Monocerotis
TL;DR: Decouverte des composantes d'un ecoulement bipolaire fortement collimate provenant de R Mon as discussed by the authors, a.k.a. as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultraviolet spectra of HH 1 and HH 2 - Spatial variations and the continuum problem
TL;DR: In this article, the spectral properties of high-SNR 12hr and 14hr ultraviolet spectra of HH 1 and HH 2 in the IUE short-wavelength range are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ultraviolet spectrum of Herbig-Haro object 2H
TL;DR: In this article, the IUE spectra of Herbig-Haro object 2H are presented, showing a strong "excess" UV continuum and prominent emission lines of C, N, O, Si, Mg, and possibly Al.
Journal ArticleDOI
The unexpected ultraviolet variability of Herbig-Haro object 1
TL;DR: The line fluxes of the C IV 1550 A and semiforbidden C III 1909 A emission lines in HH 1 are noted to have monotonically decreased by factors of 4-6 between 1979 and 1983, despite a lack of indications of optical range changes.
