Oxidative stress and epilepsy: literature review
Carlos Clayton Torres Aguiar,Anália Barbosa Almeida,Paulo Victor Pontes Araújo,Rita Neuma Dantas Cavalcante de Abreu,Edna Maria Camelo Chaves,Otoni Cardoso do Vale,Danielle Silveira Macêdo,David John Woods,Marta Maria de França Fonteles,S.M.M. Vasconcelos +9 more
TL;DR: There is evidence that suggests that antioxidant therapy may reduce lesions induced by oxidative free radicals in some animal seizure models, and few studies have shown an established link between oxidative stress, seizures, and age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of Agomelatine on Oxidative Stress in the Brain of Mice After Chemically Induced Seizures
Carlos Clayton Torres Aguiar,Anália Barbosa Almeida,Paulo Victor Pontes Araújo,Germana Silva Vasconcelos,Edna Maria Camelo Chaves,Otoni Cardoso do Vale,Danielle Silveira Macêdo,Luzia Kalyne Almeida Moreira Leal,Glauce Socorro de Barros Viana,Silvânia Maria Mendes Vasconcelos +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that agomelatine has antioxidant activity as shown in strychnine- or pilocarpine-induced seizure models, and neither melatonin nor agomalatine at any dose have shown no antioxidant effects on parameters of oxidative stress produced by PTX- or PTZ-induced seizures models when compared to controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Feelings and expectations of mothers of preterm babies at discharge
Maria Zuleide da Silva Rabelo,Edna Maria Camelo Chaves,Maria Vera Lúcia Moreira Leitão Cardoso,Maria do Socorro Mendonça Sherlock +3 more
TL;DR: Although mothers' experienced excitement and happiness at discharge, many reported being anxious and insecure on how to take care of their preterm babies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anticonvulsant effects of agomelatine in mice.
Carlos Clayton Torres Aguiar,Anália Barbosa Almeida,Paulo Victor Pontes Araújo,Germana Silva Vasconcelos,Edna Maria Camelo Chaves,Otoni Cardoso do Vale,Danielle Silveira Macêdo,Francisca Cléa Florenço de Sousa,Glauce Socorro de Barros Viana,Silvânia Maria Mendes Vasconcelos +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that agomelatine has anticonvulsant activity shown in PTZ- or pilocarpine-induced seizure models and in time until death when compared to controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aplicação do Processo de Enfermagem: estudo de caso com uma puérpera
Albertisa Rodrigues Alves,Edna Maria Camelo Chaves,Maria Célia de Freitas,Ana Ruth Macêdo Monteiro +3 more
