Journal ArticleDOI

Cu catalyzed oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-diformylfuran and 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid under benign reaction conditions

TL;DR: In this article, the renewable chemical building block 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) was oxidized to 2,5-diformylfuran by an oxidation system consisting of the radical 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidin-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and CuCl.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, characterization, and catalytic activity of ionic liquids based on biosources

TL;DR: In this article, the catalytic role of cholinium and aminoacetate ions in the Knoevenagel condensation is discussed, and they were successfully applied as catalysts for the test reaction between benzaldehyde and different active methylene compounds, at room temperature and under solvent-free conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient microwave-assisted production of furfural from C5 sugars in aqueous media catalysed by Brönsted acidic ionic liquids

TL;DR: In this article, small amounts of SO3H-functionalised room temperature synthesized ionic liquids efficiently dehydrate aqueous xylose to furfural under microwave heating at mild reaction conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient bulky phosphines for the selective telomerization of 1,3-butadiene with methanol.

TL;DR: A series of bulky phosphines containing substituted biphenyl, 2-methylnaphthyl, or 2,7-di-tert-butyl-9,9-dimethylxanthen-4-yl-diphenylphosphine (4, "mono-xantphos") stands out as an excellent ligand in terms of yield, selectivity, and stability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon-supported Ru and Pd nanoparticles: Efficient and recyclable catalysts for the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol in water

TL;DR: In this paper, carbon-supported Ru and Pd NPs were investigated in the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde in water, showing excellent conversions and high selectivity to the aldehyde.
