Damage estimation in reinforced concrete buildings from induced earthquakes in Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the probabilistic response to induced earthquakes of prevalent low-rise reinforced concrete buildings in Brazil and found that when infill walls do not work as structural components, structural damage is more likely to occur, and conversely, when they do, non-structural damage is significant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-range trajectories from global and local motion representations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a motion-based system that represents the spatial and temporal features of the flow in terms of long-range trajectories, which can be used for human activity tasks, namely on motion segmentation.
Book ChapterDOI

Social Signaling Descriptor for Group Behaviour Analysis

TL;DR: A new definition of semantic concepts for social group analysis considering environment context, a novel video surveillance dataset that conveys a sociological perspective, and a descriptor that emphasises social interactions cues within a group are proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seismic reliability assessment of a non-seismic reinforced concrete framed structure designed according to ABNT NBR 6118:2014

TL;DR: In this paper, a seismic reliability assessment of a reinforced concrete framed structure designed according to the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 6118:2014 without the consideration of the seismic design requirements of ABNT 15421:2006 is presented and discussed.

First responders occupancy, activity and vital signs monitoring - SAFESENS

TL;DR: The development and implementation of the SAFESENS location tracking and first responder monitoring demonstrator is described, capable of tracking occupancy levels in an indoor environment as well as the specific location of fire fighters within those buildings, using a multi-sensor hybrid tracking system.
