Journal ArticleDOI

Twisted Intramolecular Charge Transfer and Aggregation-Induced Emission of BODIPY Derivatives

TL;DR: Boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives 1 and 2 consisting of donor and acceptor units with dual photoresponses to solvent polarity and luminogen aggregation are developed through taking advantage of twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) processes as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, solvatochromism, aggregation-induced emission and cell imaging of tetraphenylethene-containing BODIPY derivatives with large Stokes shifts.

TL;DR: A series of tetraphenylethene-containing BODIPYs with emissions from visible to near-IR and large Stokes shifts up to 142 nm have been designed and synthesized and show solvatochromic fluorescence and can be utilized as fluorescent visualizers for intracellular imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

The smallest and one of the brightest. Efficient preparation and optical description of the parent borondipyrromethene system.

TL;DR: Fully unsubstituted 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (BODIPY) 1 was prepared and displays high quantum yields (up to 93%) in polar solvents including water.
Journal ArticleDOI

New 8‐Amino‐BODIPY Derivatives: Surpassing Laser Dyes at Blue‐Edge Wavelengths

TL;DR: The design, synthesis and characterization of new tailor-made BODIPY dyes with efficient absorption and emission in the blue spectral region are reported, with unexpectedly high lasing efficiencies and high photostabilities, outperforming the laser action of other dyes considered as benchmarks in the same spectral region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel meso-Polyarylamine-BODIPY Hybrids: Synthesis and Study of Their Optical Properties

TL;DR: A series of 14 meso-polyarylamine-BODIPY (borondipyrromethene) hybrids of the general structure A were synthesized and seven of these derivatives displayed emission in the near-infrared region.
