Morphology of monolayer MgO films on Ag(100): switching from corrugated islands to extended flat terraces.
TL;DR: The ability to engineer nearly perfect ultrathin oxide layers, up to the limit of monolayer thickness, is a key issue for nanotechnological applications and it is demonstrated that their final morphology depends not only on the usual growth parameters, but also on aftergrowth treatments controlling so far neglected thermodynamics constraints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced Reactivity at Metal-Oxide Interface: Water Interaction with MgO Ultrathin Films
TL;DR: The interest in thin and ultrathin oxide films is increasing rapidly due to the new properties and the many possible technological applications of such materials as mentioned in this paper, in this frame the interaction with...
Journal ArticleDOI
How Growing Conditions and Interfacial Oxygen Affect the Final Morphology of MgO/Ag(100) Films
Jagriti Pal,Marco Smerieri,Edvige Celasco,Letizia Savio,Luca Vattuone,Riccardo Ferrando,Sergio Tosoni,Livia Giordano,Gianfranco Pacchioni,Mario Rocca +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structure of sub-monolayer MgO films grown on Ag(100) by reactive deposition is strongly affected not only by the growth conditions but also by after-growth treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overcoming the limits of flash nanoprecipitation: effective loading of hydrophilic drug into polymeric nanoparticles with controlled structure
TL;DR: FNP was proved an effective technique for entrapping caffeine in PCL and to control its release behavior and the possibility of extending the range of applications of FNP to hydrophilic molecules is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
MgO/Ag(100): Confined vibrational modes in the limit of ultrathin films
TL;DR: In this article, the vibrational modes of clean MgO films were investigated vs film thickness by means of high-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy, and the experimental frequencies were lower than expected, indicating the presence of compressive stress.
