TL;DR: S-Alkylation of 1,2,4-triazine-6thiones with 4-iodobutyne, followed by oxidation to the sulfoxide and intramolecular cycloaddition (at room temperature), gives 2,3-dihydrothieno[2,3]-c ]pyridines, which are readily dehydrated with acetic anhydride to thieno [2, 3- c ] pyridine as discussed by the authors.

Heterocyclic synthesis from o-amino-nitriles. 28. Synthesis of some benzo(f)- and benzo(h)quinazolines.
TL;DR: In this article, a series of related 5,6-dihydrobenzo(h)quinazolines (incorporating an ethano bridge) has been prepared from 6-methoxy-1-tetralone via 2-hydroxymethylene-6-mETHO-1,4-dynaphthalene.
