Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of boron carbide powder by a carbothermic reduction method
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a graphite crucible and carbon bearing material with a particle size of less than 44 μm and heated under a flow of argon atmosphere in a tube furnace to 1400-1550°C for 1-5 h.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical properties and wear behavior of Al–2 wt.% Cu alloy composites reinforced by B4C nanoparticles and fabricated by mechanical milling and hot extrusion
Ali Alizadeh,Ehsan Taheri-Nassaj +1 more
TL;DR: Tensile and wear properties of a nanostructured matrix of Al prepared via mechanical milling and hot extrusion were investigated before and after incorporation of B4C nanoparticles as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Al addition on pressureless sintering of B4C
TL;DR: The effect of Al addition on pressureless sintering of B 4 C ceramic was analyzed in this paper, where different amounts of Al, from 0 to 5 ¼wt.% were added to the base material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pressureless sintering of boron carbide
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of small Al addition on pressureless-sintering and mechanical properties of B 4 C ceramic was analyzed and correlated to Al additions and firing temperature, and it was shown that the elastic modulus showed an increase with Al load especially between 1 and 3 ¼wt.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of an alumina–YAG nanopowder via sol–gel method
TL;DR: In this paper, an Al2O3-YAG nanopowder was synthesized by aqueous sol-gel method using AlCl3·6H2O, aluminum and Y2O 3 powders as raw materials.
