Global Vegetation and Land Use: New High-Resolution Data Bases for Climate Studies
TL;DR: In this paper, a global vegetation and land-use data base (1° latitude by 1° longitude resolution) was compiled in digital form drawing upon approximately 100 published sources complemented by a large collection of satellite imagery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Configuration and Assessment of the GISS ModelE2 Contributions to the CMIP5 Archive
Gavin A. Schmidt,Max Kelley,Larissa Nazarenko,Reto Ruedy,Gary L. Russell,Igor Aleinov,Mike Bauer,Mike Bauer,Susanne E. Bauer,Maharaj K. Bhat,Rainer Bleck,Rainer Bleck,Vittorio Canuto,Yonghua Chen,Y. Tausnev,Kostas Tsigaridis,Nadine Unger,Apostolos Voulgarakis,Mao-Sung Yao,Jinlun Zhang +48 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a description of the ModelE2 version of the GISS General Circulation Model (GCM) and the configurations used in the simulations performed for the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5).
Journal ArticleDOI
Global inundation dynamics inferred from multiple satellite observations, 1993–2000
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the first global estimate of monthly inundated areas for 1993-2000, derived from a multisatellite method employing passive microwave land surface emissivities calculated from SSM/I and ISCCP observations, ERS scatterometer responses, and AVHRR visible and near-infrared reflectances.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate forcings in the Industrial era
TL;DR: Uncertainty in climate forcings have supplanted global climate sensitivity as the predominant issue for long-term climate projections: current trends in GHGClimate forcings are smaller than in popular "business as usual" or 1% per year CO2 growth scenarios.
Journal ArticleDOI
A 1° × 1° distribution of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel consumption and cement manufacture, 1950–1990
TL;DR: One degree latitude by one degree longitude (1° × 1°) data sets of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel consumption and cement manufacture were produced for 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, and 1990 as mentioned in this paper.
