Journal ArticleDOI

Association Between Caregiver Depression and Emergency Department Use Among Patients With Dementia.

TL;DR: Among patients with dementia, caregiver depression appears to be significantly associated with increased ED use, revealing a key caregiver vulnerability, which, if addressed with patient- and caregiver-centered dementia care, could improve health outcomes and lower costs for this high-risk population.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prehospital midazolam use and outcomes among patients with out-of-hospital status epilepticus.

TL;DR: This study provides Class III evidence that for patients with status epilepticus, higher doses of midazolam led to a reduced use of rescue therapy without an increased need for ventilatory support.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association Between Treatment Progression, Disease Refractoriness, and Burden of Illness Among Hospitalized Patients With Status Epilepticus.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined differences in clinical outcomes and costs associated with hospitalization for status epilepticus of varying refractoriness and found that increased levels of refractory status epilepsy require treatment with additional medications and carry increased morbidity and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

National characteristics and predictors of neurologic 30-day readmissions.

TL;DR: Analysis of index neurologic admissions from October 2011 through January 2015 provides insight into management of neurologic disease nationally, offering policymakers realistic goals for standards of care and challenging health care providers to develop systems-based solutions that will improve transitions of care.
