Wet chemical synthesis of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite flakes: effect of pH and sintering temperature on structural and morphological properties

TL;DR: The FTIR analysis confirmed the reduction of carbonate stretching modes with an increase in pH and H–O–H antisymmetric stretching mode is eliminated for powders sintered at 900°C confirming the formation of stable and porous HAp powders.
Journal ArticleDOI

Leaching of silver contained in mining tailings, using sodium thiosulfate: A kinetic study

TL;DR: In this article, the process involved in the leaching treatment of mining tailings for silver was only slightly affected by the stirring rate in the range studied; the reaction orders were 1 (oxygen partial pressure 0.2-1/m), 0.074 (thiosulfate concentration 100-500 m−m−3) and 0.26 (Copper concentration 50-300m−m −3), the apparent activation energy of the process was 1.912kJ·mol−1 in the temperature range from 288 to 318k.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diatoms and Their Capability for Heavy Metal Removal by Cationic Exchange

TL;DR: In this article, the physicochemical behavior of two different diatoms from the country of Mexico (State of Jalisco and Hidalgo) with similar compositions were used to eliminate toxic cations from a synthetic solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical and Mineralogical Characterization of Recycled Aggregates from Construction and Demolition Waste from Mexico City

TL;DR: In this paper, four samples of recycled aggregates from the construction and demolition waste of Mexico City were characterized by means of XRD (X-ray Diffraction), chemical microanalysis (EDS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), pH measurement, and sieve analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydroxyapatite synthesis from a starfish and β-tricalcium phosphate using a hydrothermal method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a hydrothermal method using β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) and CaO from the starfish Mellita eduardobarrosoi sp. nov.
