Journal ArticleDOI
Specific effects of Ca2+ ions and molecular structure of β-lactoglobulin interfacial layers that drive macroscopic foam stability
Björn Braunschweig,Felix Schulze-Zachau,Eva Nagel,Kathrin Engelhardt,Stefan V. Stoyanov,G. Gochev,G. Gochev,Khr. Khristov,Elena Mileva,Dotchi Exerowa,Reinhard Miller,Wolfgang Peukert +11 more
TL;DR: β-Lactoglobulin adsorption layers at air–water interfaces were studied with sum-frequency generation, tensiometry, surface dilatational rheology and ellipsometry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foam films as instrumentation in the study of amphiphile self-assembly
Elena Mileva,Dotchi Exerowa +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a survey of recent experimental investigations of microscopic foam films containing self-assembled amphiphilic structures is presented, where unstable black patterns (dots and spots) are observed; they have very short lifetimes and the films which contain them rupture quickly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aqueous solutions of associative poly(acrylates): Bulk and interfacial properties
Ludmila Aricov,Hristina Petkova,Dimitrinka Arabadzhieva,Alina Iovescu,Elena Mileva,Khristo Khristov,Gabriela Stîngă,Cristina-Florentina Mihailescu,Dan F. Anghel,Roumen Todorov +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the bulk and interfacial properties of aqueous solutions of two polyacrylic acids: PAA150C 10 (MW = 150000), randomly grafted with 3-mol% decyl and dodecyl (C 12 ) chains are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amphiphilic nanostructures in foam films
Elena Mileva,Dotchi Exerowa +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors outline the potential of microscopic foam film instrumentation as an investigation tool in studying the amphiphilic nanostructures in aqueous surfactant solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of adsorption layers on thin liquid films
TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on most recent studies, in which the interconnections of interfacial layer and foam film properties are innate for the performance of the respective systems and clarified to highest possible degree.
