Journal ArticleDOI
Saccharomyces boulardii for the Prevention of Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhea in Adult Hospitalized Patients: A Single-Center, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial
Pietro Pozzoni,Alessia Riva,Alessandro Giacco Bellatorre,Maria Amigoni,Elena Redaelli,Anna Ronchetti,Mariangela Stefani,Rosangela Tironi,Edoardo Ennio Molteni,Dario Conte,Giovanni Casazza,Agostino Colli +11 more
TL;DR: In elderly hospitalized patients, S. boulardii was not effective in preventing the development of AAD, and there was no difference in mortality rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac, neuroadrenergic, and portal hemodynamic effects of prolonged aldosterone blockade in postviral child A cirrhosis.
Massimo Pozzi,Guido Grassi,Laura Ratti,Giorgio Favini,Raffaella Dell'Oro,Elena Redaelli,I. Calchera,Giuseppe Boari,Giuseppe Mancia +8 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that aldosterone blockade by long-term K-Canrenoate administration improves hepatic hemodynamics by lowering HVPG and ameliorates cardiac structure and function by favoring a reduction in LVWT and LVEDV as well.
Journal Article
Time-course of diastolic dysfunction in different stages of chronic HCV related liver diseases.
TL;DR: The presence of increased thickness of left ventricle parietal walls in chronic hepatitis C in the precirrhotic stage point to a putative role of HCV in this heart structural abnormality that can become a co-factor in the more advanced stages of cirrhosis when portal hypertension and its deleterious effects on systemic hemodynamics, cardiac function and structure become manifest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of regional sympathetic nerve traffic in preascitic and ascitic cirrhosis.
Massimo Pozzi,Guido Grassi,Elena Redaelli,Raffaella Dell'Oro,Laura Ratti,Alessandro Redaelli,Gerardo Foglia,Alessandro Di Lelio,Giuseppe Mancia +8 more
TL;DR: The data show that sympathetic nerve traffic activation is already detectable in Child class A cirrhosis when clinically significant portal hypertension is present but ascites never developed and is not generalized because although muscle traffic is increased, skin traffic is within normal range.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fibrosis is associated with adiponectin resistance in chronic hepatitis C virus infection
Sabrina Corbetta,Alessandro Redaelli,Massimo Pozzi,Giorgio Bovo,Laura Ratti,Elena Redaelli,Caterina Pellegrini,Paolo Beck-Peccoz,Anna Spada +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the adipocyte-derived insulin-sensitizing hormone might play a protective role against hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
