Active control of compressible flows on a curved surface

TL;DR: The effect of localized, time periodic surface heating and cooling over a curved surface is studied in this paper, where it is shown that the pressure gradient induced by the curvature significantly enhances the effectiveness of this form of active control.
Journal ArticleDOI

A High-Order Accurate Method for Frequency Domain Maxwell Equations with Discontinuous Coefficients

TL;DR: This work presents an analysis and implementation of a fourth order accurate algorithm for the solution of Maxwell equations with an interface between two media and so the dielectric coefficient is discontinuous.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ambipolar Diffusion in a Multi-Species Medium

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered the ambipolar diffusion in a partially ionized medium with two positively charged ionic species and showed that the diffusion tensor becomes self-suppressed with time, and then continues to diffuse in an effectively linear fashion with the same spatial distribution but with different decay rates.

Wave phenomena in a high Reynolds number compressible boundary layer

TL;DR: In this paper, the behavior of spatially unstable waves in a high Reynolds number, compressible laminar boundary layer is studied by solving Navier-Stokes equations over a flat plate with a fluctuating disturbance generated at the inflow.
