Journal ArticleDOI
Colorectal cancer screening: a global overview of existing programmes
Eline H. Schreuders,Arlinda Ruco,Linda Rabeneck,Robert E. Schoen,Joseph J.Y. Sung,Graeme P. Young,Ernst J. Kuipers +6 more
TL;DR: This review highlights issues to consider when implementing a CRC screening programme and gives a worldwide overview of CRC burden and the current status of screening programmes, with focus on international differences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of faecal occult blood test interval cancers in population-based colorectal cancer screening: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Els Wieten,Eline H. Schreuders,Esmée J. Grobbee,Daan Nieboer,Wichor M. Bramer,Iris Lansdorp-Vogelaar,Marco J. Bruno,Ernst J. Kuipers,Manon C.W. Spaander +8 more
TL;DR: A negative g FOBT result is associated with a higher iCRC incidence than a negative FIT, which supports the use of FIT over gFOBT as CRC screening tool.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Concentrations of Hemoglobin Determined by Fecal Immunochemical Tests and Long-term Development of Advanced Colorectal Neoplasia
Esmée J. Grobbee,Eline H. Schreuders,Bettina E. Hansen,Marco J. Bruno,Iris Lansdorp-Vogelaar,Manon C.W. Spaander,Ernst J. Kuipers +6 more
TL;DR: Baseline and consecutive fHb concentrations are independent predictors for incident AN and might be used in designing personalized strategies for population-based CRC screening and reduce unnecessary repeat tests.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Randomized Controlled Trial of Four Precolonoscopy Bowel Cleansing Regimens
Dina Kao,Eoin Lalor,Gurpal Sandha,Richard N. Fedorak,Bloeme van der Knoop,Stieneke Doornweerd,Harmke van Kooten,Eline H. Schreuders,William K. Midodzi,Sander Veldhuyzen van Zanten +9 more
TL;DR: A short interval between the completion of bowel preparation and the start of colonoscopy (ie, 'runway time'), irrespective of bowel prepared regimen, appeared to be a more important predictor of bowel cleanliness than the cathartic agents used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advances in Fecal Tests for Colorectal Cancer Screening
TL;DR: Fecal immunochemical tests (FIT) have superior adherence, usability, and accuracy as compared to gFOBT, and are at present regarded as the preferred method of non-invasive CRC screening.
