Geodiversity and geoheritage, which is the base to the establishment of Geotourism routes, are best preserved in rural areas (where natural heritage was not yet destroyed by human intervention). However, many urban areas have preserved quite interesting examples of geoheritage. Urban geoheritage can and must be known and promoted, by setting up geotourism routes for national and foreign visitors. The value that these geotourism routes add to the common tourist guides may represent a precious asset to a segment of tourists increasingly interested on the integration of natural heritage and other types of heritage, and may contribute to the growth of national tourism industry. In this paper the basic conceptualization it will best set and applied to Lisbon Metropolitan Area and, as a still preliminary approach, to the Lisbon city itself.

Geotourism routes in urban areas: a preliminary approach to the Lisbon geoheritage survey.

On summer and winter months, cardiovascular morbidity and mortality rates vary throughout Europe. For example, areas with mild winters seem to be the ones with higher number of seasonal mortality. In fact, Portugal is one of the southern countries together with Ireland that have higher mortality in winter. However, the number of studies relating cold weather with morbidity/mortality is still very rare. These occurrences are suspected to be associated with housing quality especially thermal insulation. In order to assess the relation between the incidence of coronary events and housing conditions in Portugal, a survey on inpatients with any form of acute coronary syndromes was undertaken during winter months, in order to get some data about houseability and residents behavior attitudes against cold exposure. It remained clear that poor housing conditions and/or lack of protective measures against cold exposure are common in Portugal. A better knowledge about the impact of weather and climate on health may be applied to built up a set of regulations for housing design (for new but also for old dwellings restoration); but also it is essential for the establishment of adaptation and mitigation policies and strategies, as well as on health planning and on the development of early warning systems.

Resumo: A identificacao dos problemas presentes na intervencao do profissional de Educacao Fisica, ocorrida principalmente nas ultimas duas decadas do seculo passado, serviu como estimulo para o surgimento de inumeros estudos sobre a profissao e a competencia profissional na area. Utilizando como fundamentacao alguns desses estudos, elaboramos o presente artigo, que tem como objetivo analisar as caracteristicas necessarias para que a Educacao Fisica se torne uma profissao reconhecida academica e socialmente, discutindo principalmente o significado e a importância do conhecimento profissional, bem como as implicacoes desse significado para os cursos de preparacao profissional. Os estudos realizados na area da Sociologia das profissoes tem comprovado que, juntamente com a organizacao, a apresentacao de um corpo de conhecimentos e fundamental para caracterizar uma profissao. Esse corpo de conhecimentos, que e dinâmico, deve ser aplicado para fundamentar a tomada de decisoes durante a intervencao profissional, visando sempre a prestacao de servicos de relevância social. Na Educacao Fisica, esse saber profissional se explicita na competencia para diagnosticar, planejar, orientar, aplicar e avaliar programas de atividades motoras, visando ao desenvolvimento do potencial motor e a autonomia para a utilizacao plena desse potencial. Preparar profissionais com tais competencias e tarefa do curso de graduacao; e fundamental que durante essa preparacao o graduando esteja participando ativa e rotineiramente do processo de producao de conhecimentos na area, realizando pesquisas diretamente relacionadas com a intervencao profissional.

Educacao fisica: pensando a profissao e a preparacao profissional

A biomecânica ainda e considerada por muitos profissionais ligados a area de educacao fisica escolar uma disciplina muito distante de seu contexto de trabalho. No entanto, na perspectiva atual em que se enfatiza a visao critica e consciente do movimento, a biomecânica parece ser um instrumental fundamental. Este artigo tem como objetivo principal tentar construir uma ponte entre as duas disciplinas, com isso simplificando os conceitos mecânicos e procurando mostrar a biomecânica como conteudo da Educacao Fisica escolar em suas tres dimensoes: conceitual, procedimental e atitudinal. Os conceitos de movimento linear e angular assim como os contidos nas tres leis de Newton serao apresentados seguidos de exemplos simples, aplicacao em movimentos especificos, terminando com aplicacao nos movimentos em geral.
