Cassava bagasse cellulose nanofibrils reinforced thermoplastic cassava starch
E. M. Teixeira,Daniel Pasquini,Antônio Aprígio da Silva Curvelo,Elisângela Corradini,Mohamed Naceur Belgacem,Alain Dufresne +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, cellulose cassava bagasse nanofibrils (CBNs) were used as reinforcing nanoparticles in a thermoplastic cassava starch matrix plasticized using either glycerol or a mixture of glycerols/sorbitol (1:1) as plasticizer.
Journal ArticleDOI
A preliminary study of the incorparation of NPK fertilizer into chitosan nanoparticles
TL;DR: In this article, chitosan nanoparticles were obtained by polymerizing methacrylic acid for the incorporation of NPK fertilizers, and they were evaluated by FTIR spectroscopy and particle size analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recent Advances in Food-Packing, Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Applications of Zein and Zein-Based Materials
Elisângela Corradini,Priscila Schroeder Curti,Adriano B. Meniqueti,Alessandro F. Martins,Adley F. Rubira,Edvani C. Muniz +5 more
TL;DR: The biodegradability and biocompatibility of zein and other inherent properties associated with zein’s structure allow a myriad of applications of such materials with great potential in the near future.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kinetics of thermal degradation applied to starches from different botanical origins by non-isothermal procedures
Luciana Simionatto Guinesi,Alessandra Luzia Da Róz,Elisângela Corradini,Luiz H. C. Mattoso,E. M. Teixeira,Antônio Aprígio da Silva Curvelo +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the non-isothermal isoconversional Wall-Flynn-Ozawa method on the TG/DTG curves to obtain the pre-exponential factor (0.10 − α ǫ − 0.70) for thermal degradation of corn, rice, potato and cassava starches.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation and characterization of thermoplastic starch/zein blends
Elisângela Corradini,Antonio J. F. Carvalho,Antônio Aprígio da Silva Curvelo,José Augusto Marcondes Agnelli,Luiz H. C. Mattoso +4 more
TL;DR: The use of zein in thermoplastic starch compositions causes a decrease in the water sensitivity of these materials and lower its melt viscosity during processing making zein a suitable and very promising component in TPS compositions as mentioned in this paper.
