Generation and analysis of blueberry transcriptome sequences from leaves, developing fruit, and flower buds from cold acclimation through deacclimation

TL;DR: Efforts to sequence the transcriptome of the commercial highbush blueberry cultivar Bluecrop and use the sequences to identify genes associated with cold acclimation and fruit development and develop SSR markers for mapping studies indicate that this large collection of 454 ESTs will be a valuable resource for identifying genes that are potentially differentially expressed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cold Hardiness, Deacclimation Kinetics, and Bud Development among 12 Diverse Blueberry Genotypes under Field Conditions

TL;DR: Cold hardiness and deacclimation kinetics under fi eld conditions for 12 Vaccinium genotypes with different germplasm compositions and expected mid-winter bud hardiness levels were investigated and indicated that V. constablaei was particularly late to deacclimate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dehardening Kinetics, Bud Development, and Dehydrin Metabolism in Blueberry Cultivars during Deacclimation at Constant, Warm Temperatures

TL;DR: Investigation of deacclimation kinetics of blueberry cultivars with different germplasm compositions and mid-winter bud hardiness levels concluded that down-regulation of the 14-kDa dehydrin most closely mirrored the loss in cold hardiness during deacClimation, and, therefore, may be involved in regulation of bud dehardening.
