Overnight emotional adaptation to negative stimuli is altered by REM sleep deprivation and is correlated with intervening dream emotions.

TL;DR: Cross-sectional analyses showed a significant increase from low to moderate stress during the COVID-19 outbreak, and identified modifiable factors associated with increased stress may be informative for intervention development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in cardiac variability after REM sleep deprivation in recurrent nightmares.
Tore Nielsen,Tyna Paquette,Elizaveta Solomonova,Jessica Lara-Carrasco,Roberto Colombo,Paola Lanfranchi +5 more
TL;DR: Results are consistent with a higher than normal sympathetic drive among NM subjects which is unmasked by high REM sleep propensity, and support a growing literature linking anxiety disorders of several types (panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder) to altered HR variability.
Journal ArticleDOI
