Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid Response to Treatment of Autoimmune Hepatitis Associated With Remission at 6 and 12 Months.
Simon Pape,Tom J. G. Gevers,J.M. Vrolijk,Bart van Hoek,Gerd Bouma,Carin M.J. van Nieuwkerk,Richard Taubert,Elmar Jaeckel,Michael P. Manns,Mária Papp,Nora Sipeki,Felix Stickel,Cumali Efe,Ersan Ozaslan,Tugrul Purnak,Frederik Nevens,Dominik J.N. Kessener,Alisan Kahraman,Heiner Wedemeyer,Johannes Hartl,Christoph Schramm,Ansgar W. Lohse,Joost P.H. Drenth,Michael A. Heneghan +23 more
TL;DR: In a retrospective study of patients with AIH, it is found that a rapid response to treatment, based on level of AST after 8 weeks, associates with normalization of transaminase levels in the following year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treg-specific IL-2 therapy can reestablish intrahepatic immune regulation in autoimmune hepatitis.
Laura Elisa Buitrago-Molina,Julia Pietrek,Fatih Noyan,Jerome Schlue,Michael P. Manns,Heiner Wedemeyer,Matthias Hardtke-Wolenski,Matthias Hardtke-Wolenski,Elmar Jaeckel +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, complexed IL-2/anti-IL-2 was used to increase the selectivity of intrahepatic regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the late course of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transient increase of activated regulatory T cells early after kidney transplantation.
Young-Seon Mederacke,Florian W. R. Vondran,Sonja Kollrich,E. Schulde,Roland Schmitt,Michael P. Manns,Jürgen Klempnauer,Reinhard Schwinzer,Fatih Noyan,Elmar Jaeckel +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Tregs of patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) are already pre-activated when compared to healthy controls, and even though total CD4+CD25highFOXP3+GARP+ Treg numbers decreased in the first three months after transplantation, frequency of activated T Reg numbers increased significantly, representing up to 40% of all peripheral T Regs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fate and function of hepatitis-C-virus-specific T-cells during peginterferon-alpha2b therapy for acute hepatitis C.
Johannes Wiegand,Markus Cornberg,Nuray Aslan,Verena Schlaphoff,Christoph Sarrazin,A. Kubitschke,Peter Buggisch,Ayse Ciner,Elmar Jaeckel,Michael P. Manns,Heiner Wedemeyer +10 more
TL;DR: Kinetics of HCV-specific T-cell responses are heterogeneous in interferon-treated patients with acute hepatitis C, suggesting the decline of T-cells might be a consequence of both apoptosis and homing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased seroprevalence of HAV and parvovirus B19 in children and of HEV in adults at diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis.
Richard Taubert,Jana Diestelhorst,Norman Junge,Martha M. Kirstein,Sven Pischke,Sven Pischke,Arndt Vogel,Heike Bantel,Ulrich Baumann,Michael P. Manns,Heiner Wedemeyer,Heiner Wedemeyer,Elmar Jaeckel +12 more
TL;DR: Pediatric and adult AIH seem to be distinct in terms of genetic risk factors and preceding viral infections, and associations cannot prove causal relations, but results suggest that hepatotropic virus infections could be involved in AIH pathogenesis.
