Methods in Raman spectroscopy for saliva studies – a review
Mike Hardy,Mike Hardy,Liam Kelleher,Paulo De Carvalho Gomes,Emma Buchan,Hin On Martin Chu,Pola Goldberg Oppenheimer +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of Raman spectroscopy combined with saliva is presented as an exciting emerging spectroscopic-biofluid combination, and a review of current methods employed in such studies is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electroporation and Mass Spectrometry: A New Paradigm for In Situ Analysis of Intact Proteins Direct from Living Yeast Colonies.
TL;DR: The rapid release of intact yeast proteins for LESA-MS by electroporation using a home-built high-voltage device designed to lyse cells grown in colonies on agar media is demonstrated and detection and identification of previously inaccessible proteins from baker’s yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as well as two clinically relevant yeast species are shown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectroscopic molecular-fingerprint profiling of saliva.
Emma Buchan,Liam Kelleher,Michael Clancy,Jonathan James Stanley Rickard,Pola Goldberg Oppenheimer +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid artificial neural network and Raman spectroscopy was used to identify the gender and age from saliva with high classification accuracy, and distinguishible spectral molecular molecular codes were subsequently constructed for each class and found to primarily stem from amino acid, protein and lipid changes in saliva.
Journal ArticleDOI
Emerging Raman spectroscopy and saliva-based diagnostics: from challenges to applications
Emma Buchan,Mike Hardy,Paulo De Carvalho Gomes,Liam Kelleher,Hin On Chu,Pola Goldberg Oppenheimer +5 more
TL;DR: In this article , the potential uses of salivary manifestation of various health disorders via Raman spectroscopy, as a noninvasive molecular sensing technique to analyze molecular signatures in the saliva projections of health, is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Su1763 RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY ANALYSIS OF SALIVA COMBINED WITH AN ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK ALGORITHM COULD DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN ULCERATIVE COLITIS AND CROHN'S DISEASE
Emma Buchan,Snehali Majumder,Olga Maria Nardone,Uday N. Shivaji,Tommaso Lorenzo Parigi,Z. Abdawn,Rahul K. Hejmadi,Marietta Iacucci,Pola Goldberg Oppenheimer +8 more
