Prolongation of QTc Interval after Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting Treatment by Droperidol or Ondansetron
Beny Charbit,Pierre Albaladejo,Christian Funck-Brentano,Mathieu Legrand,Emmanuel Samain,Jean Marty +5 more
TL;DR: When used in treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting, a situation where prolongation of the QTc interval seems to occur, the safety of 5-hydroxytryptamine type 3 antagonists may not be superior to that of low-dose droperidol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Institutional variability in transfusion practice for liver transplantation.
TL;DR: The significant heterogeneity in transfusion therapy mandates reassessment of the rational use of blood products in OLT, and intercentric differences in RBCs, FFP, and platelet use disappeared after adjustment for the postoperative Hb concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Desensitization of myocardial β-adrenergic receptors in cirrhotic rats
TL;DR: Results indicate that β‐adrenergic receptor down‐regulation may be responsible for the myocardial hyporesponsiveness to catecholamines observed in cirrhosis and that selection of β1/β2 subpopulations revealed that the decreased total β‐receptor density was entirely due to selective β1‐ receptor down‐ regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Body mass index and outcome of tension-free vaginal tape.
TL;DR: Pre-operative obesity was not found to be a risk factor for failure of tension-free vaginal tape in women with high body mass indices and there were no significant differences between groups in terms of age, parity, menopausal status, previous surgery, type and degree of incontinence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Venous thromboembolism prevention in surgery and obstetrics: clinical practice guidelines
Charles-Marc Samama,Pierre Albaladejo,Dan Benhamou,M. Bertin-Maghit,N. Bruder,J. D. Doublet,S. Laversin,S. Leclerc,Emmanuel Marret,P. Mismetti,Emmanuel Samain,Annick Steib +11 more
TL;DR: The guidelines provide a summary table for each discipline, which stratifies types of surgery into the three risk categories, specifies the recommended prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism (pharmacological and/or mechanical) and grades each recommendation.
