Journal ArticleDOI
On the mechanism of exfoliation of ‘Vermiculite’
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the mechanism of vermiculite exfoliation by using XRD to determine the precise mineralogical composition of six samples of "Vermiculite".
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk assessment of potentially toxic elements in agricultural soils and maize tissues from selected districts in Tanzania
TL;DR: The study recommended to the public to stop consuming and feeding their animals maize with high levels of PTEs for their safety, and Ni showed a more efficient transfer from soils to shoots than As, Pb and Cr.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urinary excretion of arsenic following rice consumption.
Andrew A. Meharg,Paul N. Williams,C. Deacon,Gareth J. Norton,Mohammed Kamal Hossain,Daniel E. Lou-Hing,Daniel E. Lou-Hing,Ernest M. M. Marwa,Y. Lawgalwi,Mark A. Taggart,Claudia Cascio,Parvez I. Haris +11 more
TL;DR: There was considerable variation for an individual's total arsenic urine content, and that there was a time dependent variation in urinary total arsenic content, which calls into question the robustness of routinely used first pass/spot check urine sampling for arsenic analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of heating temperature on the properties of vermiculites from Tanzania with respect to potential agronomic applications
Ernest M. M. Marwa,Ernest M. M. Marwa,Andrew A. Meharg,Clive Maitland Rice,Clive Maitland Rice +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors assessed the properties of vermiculites from Tanzania with respect to the temperature used to expand them, including water release characteristics, cation exchange capacity, pH, mass loss and bulk density.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mineralogical and chemical characterization of some vermiculites from the Mozambique Belt of Tanzania for agricultural use
TL;DR: In this article, the suitability of vermiculite for crop production by characterization of their mineralogical and chemical compositions was evaluated. But the results were limited by the lack of any precise characterization.
