Diameter-Selective Raman Scattering from Vibrational Modes in Carbon Nanotubes
Apparao M. Rao,Ernst Richter,Shunji Bandow,Bruce Chase,Peter C. Eklund,Keith A. Williams,S. Fang,K. R. Subbaswamy,Madhu Menon,Andreas Thess,Richard E. Smalley,Gene Dresselhaus,Mildred S. Dresselhaus +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Raman spectra of single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were studied using laser excitation wavelengths in the range from 514.5 to 1320 nanometers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of the Growth Temperature on the Diameter Distribution and Chirality of Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes
Shunji Bandow,S. Asaka,Yahachi Saito,Apparao M. Rao,L. Grigorian,Ernst Richter,Peter C. Eklund +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the effect of the catalyst on the tube yield and the evolution of the tube diameter distribution with increasing growth environment temperature, and found that the threshold temperature for significant SWNT production was found to be
Journal ArticleDOI
Probing the single-wall carbon nanotube bundle: Raman scattering under high pressure
U. D. Venkateswaran,Apparao M. Rao,Ernst Richter,Madhu Menon,Andrew G. Rinzler,Richard E. Smalley,P. C. Eklund +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the pressure dependence of the Raman-active radial and tangential vibrational modes of single-wall carbon-nanotube bundles and find that the radial mode intensity disappears beyond 1.5 GPa, and the tangential mode intensity also drops considerably above this pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of van der Waals Interactions on the Raman Modes in Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes
Apparao M. Rao,Jian Chen,Ernst Richter,U. Schlecht,Peter C. Eklund,Robert C. Haddon,U. D. Venkateswaran,Young-Kyun Kwon,David Tománek +8 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the upshift is due rather to a decreased energy spacing of the Van Hove singularities in isolated tubes over the spacings in a rope, thereby allowing the same laser excitation to excite different diameter tubes in these two samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and stability of SiC nanotubes
TL;DR: In this article, structural and electronic properties of recently synthesized SiC nanotubes have been investigated and shown to belong to two distinct categories that are close in energies but show significant differences in electronic and transport properties.
