Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors for rehospitalisation in COPD: role of health status, anxiety and depression
Gunnar Gudmundsson,Thorarinn Gislason,Christer Janson,Eva Lindberg,Runa Hallin,Charlotte Suppli Ulrik,Eva Brøndum,Markku M. Nieminen,T. Aine,Per Bakke +9 more
TL;DR: In patients with low health status, anxiety is an important risk factor for rehospitalisation, and the closest relation between the risk of re Hospitalisation and activity scale was seen with the activity scale.
Journal ArticleDOI
Depression, anxiety and health status after hospitalisation for COPD: a multicentre study in the Nordic countries.
Gunnar Gudmundsson,Thorarinn Gislason,Christer Janson,Eva Lindberg,Charlotte Suppli Ulrik,Eva Brøndum,Markku M. Nieminen,T. Aine,Runa Hallin,Per Bakke +9 more
TL;DR: It was showed that anxiety and depression are common in patients with COPD, and, furthermore, that patients with psychological disorders have poor health status.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality in COPD patients discharged from hospital : the role of treatment and co-morbidity
Gunnar Gudmundsson,Thorarinn Gislason,Eva Lindberg,Runa Hallin,Charlotte Suppli Ulrik,Eva Brøndum,Markku M. Nieminen,T. Aine,Per Bakke,Christer Janson +9 more
TL;DR: Treatment with inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting bronchodilators may be associated with lower mortality in patients with COPD, with older age, decreased lung function, lower health status and diabetes the most important risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nutritional status and long-term mortality in hospitalised patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Runa Hallin,Gunnar Gudmundsson,Charlotte Suppli Ulrik,Markku M. Nieminen,Thorarinn Gislason,Eva Lindberg,Eva Brøndum,T. Aine,Per Bakke,Christer Janson +9 more
TL;DR: COPD patients that are underweight at admission to hospital have a higher risk of dying within the next 2 years, and the association between underweight in COPD-patients, and mortality remained significant after adjusting for possible confounders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eosinophil-guided corticosteroid therapy in patients admitted to hospital with COPD exacerbation (CORTICO-COP): a multicentre, randomised, controlled, open-label, non-inferiority trial.
Pradeesh Sivapalan,Therese S. Lapperre,Julie Janner,Rasmus Rude Laub,Mia Moberg,Charlotte Sandau Bech,Josefin Eklöf,Freja Stæhr Holm,Karin Armbruster,Praleene Sivapalan,Christiane Mosbech,Aras K.M. TL;DR: Whether an algorithm based on blood eosinophil counts could safely reduce systemic corticosteroid exposure in patients admitted to hospital with acute exacerbations of COPD is determined.
