Porous alginate aerogel beads for effective and rapid heavy metal sorption from aqueous solutions: Effect of porosity in Cu2+ and Cd2+ ion sorption

TL;DR: In this paper, calcium alginate porous aerogel beads were prepared by sc-CO 2 drying, characterized and for the first time evaluated for their performance on metal ion sorption in comparison with their non-porous xerogel analogues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hyperbranched polyethyleneimine towards the development of homogeneous and highly porous CuO–CeO2–SiO2 catalytic materials

TL;DR: In this article, a novel templating strategy for the development of composite nanoporous CuO/CeO2/SiO2 materials with advanced properties and significant thermal stability is proposed for potential use in automotive catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Green Route to Copper Loaded Silica Nanoparticles Using Hyperbranched Poly(Ethylene Imine) as a Biomimetic Template: Application in Heterogeneous Catalysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a low cost versatile approach by means of hyperbranched polyethyleneimine (PEI), a water soluble dendritic polymer, was used to produce hybrid organic/inorganic silica nanoparticles in buffered aqueous media, at room temperature and neutral pH, through a biomimetic silicification process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mesoporous silica based copper catalytic materials for potential deNOx application: Synthesis and characterization

TL;DR: In this article, hybrid catalytic porous materials were prepared and investigated with respect to their structural and functional properties, and the development of the catalytic systems was performed through a modified polyol route utilizing two mesoporous siliceous templates, MCM-41 and MCF as substrates, whereas copper was used as the active component.
