TL;DR: The TFTR tokamak has reached its original machine design specifications (Ip=2.5 MA and BT=5.2 T) by operating at low plasma current and low density (ne approximately=1*1019 m-3), high ion temperatures (9+or2 keV) and rotation speeds (7*105 m/s) have been achieved during injection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenomenology of MARFEs in TFTR
TL;DR: In this paper, a toroidally symmetric, poloidally asymmetric luminous band (MARFE) is observed in TFTR, where the edge cooling due to high radiation from the MARFE can result in further evolution into a reduced minor radius that is detached from the limiter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental results from detached plasmas in TFTR
J. D. Strachan,F.P. Boody,C. E. Bush,Samuel A. Cohen,B. Grek,L. R. Grisham,F. C. Jobes,David W. Johnson,D. K. Mansfield,S. S. Medley,W. Morris,Hyeon K. Park,J.F. Schivell,G. Taylor,K. L. Wong,S. Yoshikawa,M. C. Zarnstorff,S. J. Zweben +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the properties of TFTR ohmic detached plasmas with a range of plasma densities at two different plasma currents were investigated and compared with two different TFTR currents.

TL;DR: In this article, the axisymmetric inner toroidal limiter in TFTR was studied and the scaling of the plasma stored energy was studied as a function of the input power, plasma current, and plasma density.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromium getter studies in the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor
H. F. Dylla,P. H. LaMarche,W. R. Blanchard,Robert Budny,F.P. Boody,C.E. Bush,R. Groebner,Patrick J. McCarthy,J. E. Simpkins,B. C. Stratton,M. Ulrickson +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the deposition of thin films (∼0.1 μm) of chromium onto ∼70% of the torus area of the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) were studied.
