Journal ArticleDOI

Developmental effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in wildlife and humans.

TL;DR: Mechanisms underlying the disruption of the development of vital systems, such as the endocrine, reproductive, and immune systems, are discussed with reference to wildlife, laboratory animals, and humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating the effects of endocrine disruptors on endocrine function during development.

TL;DR: Issues discussed here include the hypothesis of greater sensitivity of embryos/fetuses to endocrine disruptors, irreversible consequences of exposure before maturation of homeostatic systems and during periods of genetic imprinting, and quantitative information related to the shape of the dose-response curve for specific developmental phenomena.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of altered prenatal hormonal environment on expression of autoimmune disease in NZB/NZW mice

TL;DR: In male NZB/NZW fetuses whose mothers were administered testosterone, the naturally high level of circulating estradiol observed in untreated male fetuses was decreased significantly and was associated with an increase in longevity, which has important implications for fetal exposure to endocrine disruptors in the environment.
