Journal ArticleDOI

Microstructure evolution at a triple junction in polycrystalline silicon

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied two elementary microstructure evolution events taking place at a multiple-twin triple junction (TJ) in Si by means of molecular dynamics simulations with the Stillinger-Weber empirical potential.
Journal ArticleDOI

A biophysical model of cell evolution after cytotoxic treatments: Damage, repair and cell response.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a theoretical agent-based model of cell evolution under the action of cytotoxic treatments, such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy, where the major features of cell cycle and proliferation, cell damage and repair, and chemical diffusion are included.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibrational modes of graphitic fragments and the nucleation of carbon nanotubes

TL;DR: In this paper, a cylindrical seed can be formed by the spontaneous rolling of a small graphite fragment under thermal fluctuations, and the vibrational spectra of carbon nanotubes are calculated by means of a tight-binding model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stochastic mechanical degradation of multi-cracked fiber bundles with elastic and viscous interactions.

TL;DR: This work proposes a method to analyze the behavior of a fiber bundle, undergoing a random distribution of breaks, by considering the intrinsic response of the fibers and the visco-elastic interactions among them, and finds that the degradation of the effective bundle stiffness can be described by two scaling regimes.
