Abstract A two-dimensional version of the Pennsylvania State University mesoscale model has been applied to Winter Monsoon Experiment data in order to simulate the diurnally occurring convection observed over the South China Sea. The domain includes a representation of part of Borneo as well as the sea so that the model can simulate the initiation of convection. Also included in the model are parameterizations of mesoscale ice phase and moisture processes and longwave and shortwave radiation with a diurnal cycle. This allows use of the model to test the relative importance of various heating mechanisms to the stratiform cloud deck, which typically occupies several hundred kilometers of the domain. T he space-based vantage of Earth-observing satellites to solve some of the world’s otherwise fundamentally intractable problems is well known. For example, from understanding the global distribution of precipitation, energy, and water cycling to predicting transboundary water fluxes, satellites have been promoted as the only means available for our sparsely instrumented Earth. While most Earthobserving satellite missions have a science-oriented goal, the applied-science value for decision making at tactical or strategic time scales is equally convincing. However, Internet data portals for satellite missions available today do not seem to be making an impact on diverse end users as large as that already made on the scientific community. In a recent end-user training workshop titled “Environmental Applications of Remote Sensing for Water Resources” [held in December 2012 in Bangladesh to introduce existing and emerging satellite missions such as the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) missions], end users were found unaware of the many highly evolved satellite data portals already in existence because these Internet portals were not as highly visible in the Google search engine as the archaic ones.

Do Satellite Data Portals Today Reach Out to Diverse End Users Around the World

A simple, ultra-sensitive, and highly selective spectrophotometric method has been established for the trace quantification of zinc (Zn), using 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde benzoylhydrazone (HNABH). Zn forms a pale yellowish-green complex (maximum absorption at 426 nm) with HNABH (1:1, v : v ) in a marginally acidic solution (0.00005-0.00023 M H 2 SO 4 ). The average molar absorption coefficient and Sandell’s sensitivity were found: 2.87×10 5 L/mol.cm and 12 ng/cm 2 of Zn, respectively. The observed linearity range for Zn was 0.01-50 mg/Lwith a detection limit of 1 µg/L. The analysis of biological, food, and vegetable samples using the suggested method were found to be in tremendous accord with those acquired by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). The method has high precision and accuracy (s = ±0.01 for 0.5 mg/L). The limit of quantification of the proposed method was 10 µg/L.

Dams have long played a critical role in fostering urban growth, a trend that is expected to continue throughout the developing world. As the interplay between large dams and local weather patterns becomes better understood, civil engineers must lead the way in ensuring that large dams and the urban areas that rely on them remain as resilient as possible, even in the face of changing patterns of extreme weather.

Cities, Dams, and Extreme Weather

During the last decade, attackers have compromised reputable systems to launch massive Distributed Denial of Services (DDoS) attacks against banking services, corporate websites, and e-commerce business. Such attacks cause enormous reputation and financial losses which ruined their services to authorized users. Conventionally, diverse solutions have been proposed to combat emerging DDoS attacks. However, there is no ideal solution available to-date. To validate majority of the existing solutions, researchers have considered simulation based experiments that become obsolete. Now a days, the trend has shifted to publicly available realistic datasets for DDoS validation purpose. Thus, in this research study, we have provided a comprehensive review of currently available datasets and proposed a novel taxonomy for classification of DDoS attacks. Further, we generated a new dataset called "CRCDDoS2022", which can overcome all existing shortcomings. Moreover, a novel generated dataset "CRCDDoS2022" can overcome drawback. Moreover, with this new dataset, a new attack (Malware) family classification and detection approach is also provided which based on the set of features in network flow. Lastly, this research provided the most significant feature sets for the detection of DDoS attacks of various types along with their corresponding weights.
