Feasibility of managed domestic rainwater harvesting in South Asian rural areas using remote sensing
Asif Mahmood,Faisal Hossain +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the feasibility of domestic rainwater harvesting in South Asia region was assessed using rainfall climatology, remote sensing and water balance concept to improve the rural public health condition, and it was found that DRH is a viable option in most of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Himalayan range, North-Eastern, Central, Eastern and coastal parts of Southern India as the rainfall and household architecture can satisfy potable (7.5 liter per capita per day-lpcd for drinking and cooking) water demand for significant portion the year even in worst case scenario.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
An altimeter height extraction technique for dynamically changing rivers of South and South-East Asia
TL;DR: In this article, a new approach was proposed to maximize the skill of satellite altimeter-derived heights by utilizing river extent information from additional sensors, which was applied for JASON-3 nadir altimeter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Understanding the Geophysical Sources of Uncertainty for Satellite Interferometric (SRTM)-Based Discharge Estimation in River Deltas: The Case for Bangladesh
M. S. Sikder,Faisal Hossain +1 more
TL;DR: This study looked at the geophysical sources of uncertainty of satellite interferometric-based discharge estimation in Bangladesh to contextualize the understanding as a function of river's geophysical characteristics and explore a pragmatic approach to uncertainty reduction using water level climatology.

Satellite observations reveal thirteen years of reservoir filling strategies, operating rules, and hydrological alterations in the Upper Mekong River Basin
TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the ten largest reservoirs and leverage satellite observations to infer 13-year time series of monthly storage variations in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin.
