Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in metal-carbene complexes as potent anti-cancer agents.

TL;DR: This critical review is an updated survey of metal-carbenes as potential anticancer chemotherapeutics and reports on the recent advances in the discovery of N-heterocyclic carbenes and abnormal NHCs associated with metals from groups 10 and 11 that displayed antiproliferative activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metal/N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes: Opportunities for the Development of Anticancer Metallodrugs

TL;DR: It was shown that Au-NHCs increase reactive oxygenated species (ROS) production inside the mitochondria, thus ultimately leading to cell death, and this area is an emerging area and might provide new alternatives for therapeutic treatments of cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photochemical and electronic properties of conjugated bis(azo) compounds: an experimental and computational study.

TL;DR: Investigation of the photophysical, photochemical and electrochemical properties of two bis(azo) derivatives shows a different degree of electronic coupling and communication between the two azo units in m-1 and p-1, as confirmed by electrochemical experiments and quantum chemical calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cuprophilic interactions in highly luminescent dicopper(I)–NHC–picolyl complexes – fast phosphorescence or TADF?

TL;DR: It is shown that cuprophilic interactions can ensure strong spin-orbit coupling for fast (reverse)intersystem-crossing T1 ↔ S1 and T1 → S0, and therefore can serve as a design motif for the construction of highly efficient Cu(I)-based TADF or T1 emitters.
