Different respiratory behaviors disclosed by induced bronchoconstriction in mild asthma patients.
Federico Lavorini,Chiara Magni,Elisa Chellini,Gianna Camiciottoli,Massimo Pistolesi,Giovanni A. Fontana +5 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the responses to induced bronchoconstriction disclosed distinctive and reproducible respiratory adjustments that may identify functionally different asthma subpopulations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of PIF, Inhalation Technique and Medication Adherence on Health Status and Exacerbations in COPD: Protocol of a Real-World Observational Study (PIFotal COPD Study).
Marika Leving,Hans Wouters,Alberto de la Hoz,Sinthia Bosnic-Anticevich,Sinthia Bosnic-Anticevich,Richard Dekhuijzen,Asparuh Gardev,Federico Lavorini,Jiska Meijer,David Price,Miguel Román Rodríguez,Ioanna Tsiligianni,Omar S. Usmani,Birgit Wijnsma,Janwillem W. H. Kocks +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the impact of peak inspiratory flow (PIF) on patient-reported outcomes in patients with COPD in primary care using dry powder inhalers (DPIs) for their maintenance therapy was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
P154 Evaluation of Inhaler Technique Mastery for Budesonide Formoterol Spiromax® Compared with Symbicort Turbohaler® in Adult Patients with Asthma: Primary Results From the Easy Low Instruction Over Time [ELIOT] Study
Henry Chrystyn,Richard Dekhuijzen,C.S. Rand,Sinthia Bosnic-Anticevich,Nicolas Roche,Federico Lavorini,V Thomas,J Steele,P Raju,D Freeman,I Small,J Canvin,David Price +12 more
TL;DR: Maintaining inhaler mastery improved asthma control in both treatment groups and was not significantly different and was supported by significantly higher odds of maintaining mastery when HCP errors were calibrated using independent video assessment in patients using Spiromax.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of a method to assess emphysema severity by spirometry in the COPDGene study
Mariaelena Occhipinti,Matteo Paoletti,James D. Crapo,Barry J. Make,David A. Lynch,Vito Brusasco,Federico Lavorini,Edwin K. Silverman,Elizabeth A. Regan,Massimo Pistolesi +9 more
TL;DR: ESI methodology has been validated in the large multiethnic population of smokers of the COPDGene study and therefore it could be applied for clinical and research purposes in the generalpopulation of smokers, using a readily available online website.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aerosol delivery systems for treating obstructive airway diseases during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the current evidence and understanding of the use of aerosolised inhaled therapies during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and provide some guidance on the measures to be taken to minimise the risk of transmitting infection, if any, during aerosol therapies.
