Journal ArticleDOI
Biofortified indica rice attains iron and zinc nutrition dietary targets in the field.
Kurniawan Rudi Trijatmiko,Conrado Dueñas,Nikolaos Tsakirpaloglou,Lina Torrizo,Felichi Mae Arines,Cheryl Adeva,Jeanette L. Balindong,Norman Oliva,Maria Veronica Sapasap,Jaime Borrero,Jessica Rey,Perigio Francisco,Andrew Nelson,Hiromi Nakanishi,Enzo Lombi,Elad Tako,Raymond P. Glahn,James C. R. Stangoulis,Prabhjit Chadha-Mohanty,Alexander W. Johnson,Joe Tohme,Gerard Barry,Inez H. Slamet-Loedin,Inez H. Slamet-Loedin +23 more
TL;DR: Transgenic events NASFer-274 containing rice nicotianamine synthase and soybean ferritin genes showed a single locus insertion without a yield penalty or altered grain quality, indicating that Fe is bioavailable.
Book ChapterDOI
Molecular Analyses of Transgenic Plants
TL;DR: Southern hybridization using DIG chemiluminescent technology for characterization of transgenic locus, SYBR Green-based real-time RT-PCR to measure transgene transcript level, and protein immunoblot analysis to evaluate accumulation and stability of transgenes stably over generations in the target tissue are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proof of concept and early development stage of market-oriented high iron and zinc rice expressing dicot ferritin and rice nicotianamine synthase genes
Nikolaos Tsakirpaloglou,Gela Myan Bueno-Mota,Jessica Candace Soriano,E. Arcillas,Felichi Mae Arines,Su May Yu,James C. R. Stangoulis,Kurniawan Rudi Trijatmiko,Russell F. Reinke,Joe Tohme,Howarth E. Bouis,Inez H. Slamet-Loedin +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report on the proof-of-concept and early development stage of a collection of bio-fortified rice events with a high density of Fe and Zn in polished grains that have been pursued further to advance development for product release.
Posted ContentDOI
Lysosome transporter purification and reconstitution identifies Ypq1 pH-gated lysine transport and regulation
TL;DR: In this paper , the putative lysine transporter Ypq1 using a constitutive overexpression system in protease-and ubiquitination-deficient yeast vacuoles was developed.
