Titanium Dioxide Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Properties, Modifications, and Applications

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have been designed and successfully synthesized by condensation reactions of phenyl diboronic acid {C6H4[B(OH)2]2} and hexahydroxytriphenylene [C18H6(OH)6]. Powder x-ray diffraction studies of the highly crystalline products (C3H2BO)6.(C9H12)1 (COF-1) and C9H4BO2 (COF-5) revealed expanded porous graphitic layers that are either staggered (COF-1, P6(3)/mmc) or eclipsed (COF-5, P6/mmm). Their crystal structures are entirely held by strong bonds between B, C, and O atoms to form rigid porous architectures with pore sizes ranging from 7 to 27 angstroms. COF-1 and COF-5 exhibit high thermal stability (to temperatures up to 500 degrees to 600 degrees C), permanent porosity, and high surface areas (711 and 1590 square meters per gram, respectively).

Porous, Crystalline, Covalent Organic Frameworks

A critical review of adsorption methods that are currently used in the characterization of ordered organic−inorganic nanocomposite materials is presented, and the adsorption methodology that is potentially useful for this characterization, but has not yet been applied, is discussed. The ordered organic−inorganic nanocomposites include surface-functionalized ordered mesoporous materials (OMMs) with siliceous frameworks (synthesized either via postsynthesis surface modification or via direct co-condensation method), periodic mesoporous organosilicas, and surfactant-containing OMMs. This review covers the methods for determination of the specific surface area and pore volume. Vacancy Ordering and Host—Guest Interactions in CdPS3 Intercalates: Results from Multidimensional Solid State NMR.

Ab initio calculations have been carried out for the three polymorphs of SiAl2O5 in order to study the 17O NMR characteristics of tricoordinated O atoms, O[3], and tetracoordinated O atoms, O[4], that are possibly present in the structure of aluminosilicate glasses. We present δiso, CQ, and η calculations using the density functional theory-based GIPAW method for all silicon, aluminum, and oxygen sites and in particular for the 14 O[3] atoms, which are bonded to three Al or Si atoms in the andalusite, sillimanite, and kyanite polymorphs of SiAl2O5. The O[4] parameters calculated in kyanite are also compared with the corresponding site in α-Al2O3. The calculated values for the 29Si and 27Al isotropic chemical shift values as well as 27Al quadrupolar coupling constants (CQ) and asymmetry parameters (η) are in good agreement with experimental data.
