Magnesium incorporation into hydroxyapatite

TL;DR: The incorporation of Mg in hydroxyapatite (HA) was investigated using multinuclear solid state NMR, X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and computational modeling, finding that the environment of the anions is disordered in this substituted apatite phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrothermal carbon from biomass: structural differences between hydrothermal and pyrolyzed carbons via 13C solid state NMR.

TL;DR: This work proposes a broad reaction scheme and shows that, through HTC, it is possible to tune the furan-to-arene ratio composing the aromatic core of the produced HTC carbons, which is not possible if calcination is used alone, in the temperature range below 350 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced sieving from exfoliated MoS 2 membranes via covalent functionalization

TL;DR: A nanolaminate membrane based on covalently functionalized molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets functionalized by hydrophobic groups displays stability and high performance for desalination under reverse osmosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combined first-principles computational and experimental multinuclear solid-state NMR investigation of amino acids.

TL;DR: Calculations using the two experimental structures for L-alanine have shown that, while the calculated isotropic chemical shift values of 13C and 15N are relatively insensitive to small differences in the experimental structure, the 17O shift is markedly affected.
