Microdevices for extensional rheometry of low viscosity elastic liquids: a review
TL;DR: Extensional flows and the underlying stability/instability mechanisms are of extreme relevance to the efficient operation of inkjet printing, coating processes and drug delivery systems, as well as for the generation of micro droplets as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
An apparent viscosity function for shear thickening fluids
TL;DR: In this article, a new apparent viscosity function for shear thickening fluids is proposed, contemplating the three characteristic regions typically exhibited by these materials: slight shear thinning at low shear rates, followed by a sharp viscoity increase over a threshold shear rate value (critical shear speed).
Journal ArticleDOI
Microfluidic systems for the analysis of viscoelastic fluid flow phenomena in porous media
Francisco J. Galindo-Rosales,Laura Campo-Deaño,Fernando T. Pinho,E. van Bokhorst,E. van Bokhorst,Peter J. Hamersma,Monica Oliveira,Manuel A. Alves +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, two microfluidic devices are proposed as simplified 1-D micro-fluidics analogues of a porous medium, which consisted of microchannels with a sequence of contractions/expansions disposed in symmetric and asymmetric arrangements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shear-thickening behavior of Aerosil® R816 nanoparticles suspensions in polar organic liquids
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used steady and dynamic rheometry to detect non-flocculated suspensions in polypropylene glycol, in which hydroxyl groups have been mostly substituted by alkyls groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intrinsic viscosity of SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2 aqueous suspensions
Francisco Jose Rubio-Hernandez,M. F. Ayúcar-Rubio,J. F. Velázquez-Navarro,Francisco J. Galindo-Rosales +3 more
TL;DR: The viscosity of dilute suspensions of several metal oxides (SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2) was measured at different pH values and a correlation with the shape of the kinetic unity has been proposed.
