TL;DR: In this paper, the porosity of granular activated carbon has been investigated using phosphoric acid, zinc chloride and potassium hydroxide as activating agents, and the impregnation ratios of ZnCl 2 and H 3 PO 4 leading to high volume of micropores of homogeneous width have been selected to prepare binderless carbon monolithic discs able to adsorb large amounts of methane at 3.4MPa.

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of the bimetallic PtZn/TiO2 catalyst was investigated for the selective hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde and toluene in the presence of zinc and increasing the reduction temperature.

TL;DR: The porosity development along the activation process is expected for this precursor; activated carbons with a very small volume of meso-and macropores and a large volume of micropores are obtained when the impregnation ratio is intermediate.

TL;DR: In this article, displacement reactions between metallic carbides (of Mo, W, Ta and Nb) and Si have been used for the preparation of mixed disilicide/SiC composite materials.
Abstract: Displacement reactions between metallic carbides (of Mo, W, Ta and Nb) and Si have been used for the preparation of mixed disilicide/SiC composite materials (Mo–W)Si 2 /SiC and (Nb–Ta)Si 2 /SiC. Pieces were consolidated by hot pressing and subsequently analysed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and microhardness testing. Mixed-disilicide/SiC composites were easy to obtain, pieces exhibiting a very homogeneous microstructure and strength and toughness.
