Journal ArticleDOI
Ambient particulate matter (PM2.5) : Physicochemical characterization and metabolic activation of the organic fraction in human lung epithelial cells (A549)
Sylvain Billet,Guillaume Garçon,Zeina Dagher,Anthony Verdin,Frédéric Ledoux,Fabrice Cazier,Dominique Courcot,Antoine Aboukaïs,Pirouz Shirali +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the metabolic activation of the very low doses of VOC and/or PAH-coated onto the inorganic condensation nuclei from Dunkerque City's PM is one of the underlying mechanisms of action closely involved in its cytotoxicity in human lung epithelial cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of different pathways of apoptosis by air pollution particulate matter (PM2.5) in human epithelial lung cells (L132) in culture.
Zeina Dagher,Guillaume Garçon,Sylvain Billet,Pierre Gosset,Frédéric Ledoux,Dominique Courcot,Antoine Aboukaïs,Pirouz Shirali +7 more
TL;DR: PM exposure induced apoptosis by activating not only the tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha)-induced pathway, but also the mitochondrial pathway (i.e. 8-hydroxy-2'-desoxyguanosine formation, cytochrome c release from mitochondria, caspase-9 and -3 activation).
Journal ArticleDOI
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon derivatives in airborne particulate matter: sources, analysis and toxicity
Imane Abbas,Ghidaa Badran,Ghidaa Badran,Anthony Verdin,Frédéric Ledoux,M. Roumié,Dominique Courcot,Guillaume Garçon +7 more
TL;DR: A review of sources, the mechanisms of formation, physicochemical properties, analytical methods, and the toxicological effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their derivatives in airborne particulate matter can be found in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dunkerque City air pollution particulate matter-induced cytotoxicity, oxidative stress and inflammation in human epithelial lung cells (L132) in culture.
Guillaume Garçon,Zeina Dagher,Farid Zerimech,Frédéric Ledoux,Dominique Courcot,Antoine Aboukaïs,Emile Puskaric,Pirouz Shirali +7 more
TL;DR: Findings suggested that oxidative stress and inflammatory responses proceeded cytotoxicity in PM-exposed L132 cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical profile identification of fugitive and confined particle emissions from an integrated iron and steelmaking plant.
Dany Hleis,Ignacio Fernández-Olmo,Frédéric Ledoux,Frédéric Ledoux,Adib Kfoury,Adib Kfoury,Lucie Courcot,Lucie Courcot,Thérèse Desmonts,Dominique Courcot,Dominique Courcot +10 more
TL;DR: Dust samples collected from the blast furnace (BF) and steelmaking cast house may be distinguished from each other based on the higher levels of Fe (hematite and magnetite) and lower levels of Ca, Zn and C (graphite) found in BF dust.
