Current state of knowledge on aetiology, diagnosis, management, and therapy of peripartum cardiomyopathy: a position statement from the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on peripartum cardiomyopathy
Karen Sliwa,Denise Hilfiker-Kleiner,Mark C. Petrie,Alexandre Mebazaa,Burkert Pieske,Eckhart Buchmann,Vera Regitz-Zagrosek,Maria Schaufelberger,Luigi Tavazzi,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Hugh Watkins,Ajay J. Shah,Petar M. Seferović,Uri Elkayam,Sabine Pankuweit,Zoltán Papp,Frédéric Mouquet,John J.V. McMurray +17 more
TL;DR: The present position statement offers a state‐of‐the‐art summary of what is known about risk factors for potential pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical presentation of, and diagnosis and management of PPCM.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD31− but Not CD31+ Cardiac Side Population Cells Exhibit Functional Cardiomyogenic Differentiation
Otmar Pfister,Frédéric Mouquet,Mohit Jain,Ross Summer,Michiel Helmes,Alan Fine,Wilson S. Colucci,Ronglih Liao +7 more
TL;DR: The existence of a cardiac SP cell population, immunophenotypically distinct from bone marrow SP cells, is confirmed and it is concluded that CD31−/Sca1+ cardiac SP cells represent a distinct cardiac progenitor cell population capable of cardiomyogenic differentiation into matureCardiomyocytes through a process mediated by cellular coupling with adult card iomyocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Restoration of Cardiac Progenitor Cells After Myocardial Infarction by Self-Proliferation and Selective Homing of Bone Marrow–Derived Stem Cells
Frédéric Mouquet,Otmar Pfister,Mohit Jain,Angelos Oikonomopoulos,Soeun Ngoy,Ross Summer,Alan Fine,Ronglih Liao +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that local progenitor cell proliferation maintains CSP under physiologic conditions, with little contribution from extracardiac stem cell sources, as well as through homing of bone marrow–derived stem cells to specific areas of myocardial injury and immunophenotypic conversion of BMC to adopt a CSP phenotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of diabetes mellitus on long-term survival in patients with congestive heart failure.
Pascal de Groote,Nicolas Lamblin,Frédéric Mouquet,David Plichon,Eugene P. McFadden,Eric Van Belle,Christophe Bauters +6 more
TL;DR: The prognostic impact of diabetes mellitus in HF patients is markedly influenced by the underlying aetiology and is particularly deleterious in those with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intracoronary autologous mononucleated bone marrow cell infusion for acute myocardial infarction: results of the randomized multicenter BONAMI trial.
Jerome Roncalli,Frédéric Mouquet,Christophe Piot,Jean-Noël Trochu,Philippe Le Corvoisier,Yannick Neuder,Thierry Le Tourneau,Thierry Le Tourneau,Denis Agostini,Virginia Gaxotte,Catherine Sportouch,Michel Galinier,Dominique Crochet,Emmanuel Teiger,Marie-Jeanne Richard,Anne-Sophie Polge,Jean-Paul Beregi,Alain Manrique,Didier Carrié,Sophie Susen,Bernard Klein,Angelo Parini,Guillaume Lamirault,Pierre Croisille,Hélène Rouard,Philippe Bourin,Jean-Michel Nguyen,Béatrice Delasalle,Gérald Vanzetto,Eric Van Belle,Patricia Lemarchand +30 more
TL;DR: Intracoronary autologous BMC administration to patients with decreased LVEF after AMI was associated with improvement of myocardial viability in multivariate-but not in univariate-analysis, and a large multicentre international trial is warranted.
