Journal ArticleDOI
The utility and performance of near-infra red spectroscopy in simultaneous monitoring of multiple components in a high cell density recombinant Escherichiacoli production process
G. Macaloney,J. W. Hall,M. J. Rollins,I. Draper,K. B. Anderson,John S. Preston,B. G. Thompson,Brian McNeil +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of near-IR spectroscopy for at-line (rapid off-line) monitoring of biomass, glycerol, ammonium, and acetate in a recombinant Escherichia coli fed batch process was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
At-Line Control and Fault Analysis In an Industrial High Cell Density Escherichia Coli Fermentation, Using NIR Spectroscopy
G. Macaloney,I. Draper,John S. Preston,K. B. Anderson,M. J. Rollins,B. G. Thompson,Jeffrey W. Hall,Brian McNeil +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, at-line NIR ammonium monitoring was used in an E coli fermentation to control the accumulation of ammonium by indicating when to switch between NH 4 OH and NaOH solutions for pH control in this manner ammonium concentration was successfully controlled between inhibitory and growth limiting concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monitoring biomass and glycerol in an Escherichia coli fermentation using near-infrared spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, near-infrared spectroscopy was used to determine biomass and glycerol concentrations in E.coli whole-broth fermentation samples and a standard error of prediction (SEP) of 0.2 g/L and correlation coefficient (r) was obtained.
