Nuclear resonant scattering of synchrotron radiation

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of transmission of the Mossbauerγ-radiation and of synchrotron radiation through a nuclear resonant medium is suggested using an approach based on the optical theory.
Journal ArticleDOI

General properties of nuclear resonant scattering

TL;DR: In this article, the process of nuclear resonant scattering was considered on the basis of an optical model and coherent properties coherent properties of the radiation and scattering mechanism were described, and complementary pictures of γ-ray resonance in energy and time domains were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synchrotron Mössbauer source

TL;DR: The synchrotron Mossbauer source (SMS) as discussed by the authors produces single-line radiation of about natural linewidth, but in addition the emitted radiation is fully recoilless, highly directed, and of pure linear polarization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Storage of Nuclear Excitation Energy through Magnetic Switching.

TL;DR: The decay rate of {sup 57}Fe nuclei in an{sub 3} crystal excited by 14.4keV synchrotron radiation pulses was controlled by switching the direction of the crystal magnetization by abrupt switching some nanoseconds after excitation, which suppresses the coherent nuclear decay.
