Computed tomography severity index, APACHE II score, and serum CRP concentration for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis.
TL;DR: The computed tomography severity index is a reliable method for staging the severity of acute pancreatitis; moreover, CT has the ability of showing the local extent of the inflammation and the occurrence of local complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Type 2 diabetes mellitus and CA 19-9 levels.
Oya Uygur-Bayramiçli,Resat Dabak,Ekrem Orbay,Can Dolapcioglu,Mehmet Sargin,Gamze Kilicoglu,Yuksel Guleryuzlu,Alpaslan Mayadagli +7 more
TL;DR: CA 19-9 is a tumor-associated antigen, which is elevated in pancreatic, upper gastrointestinal tract, ovarian hepatocellular, and colorectal cancers, as well as in inflammatory conditions of the hepatobiliary system, biliary obstruction and in thyroid diseases, and subtle elevations in diabetics should be considered as the indication of exocrine pancreatic dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI
New Concept of the Encapsulated Follicular Variant of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and Its Impact on the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology: A Single-Institute Experience
Sule Canberk,Pembegül Güneş,Mine Onenerk,Murat Erkan,Emine Kilinc,Nilufer Kocak Gursan,Gamze Kilicoglu +6 more
TL;DR: A study to analyze the malignancy ratios of each category of the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology if EFV-PTC is no longer considered as a malignant entity showed that the most significant decrease was seen in the suspicious for follicular neoplasm/follicular Neoplasm category, but all categories represented a considerable decrease.
