The SAIL databank: linking multiple health and social care datasets
Ronan A Lyons,Kerina H. Jones,Gareth John,Caroline J. Brooks,Jean Philippe Verplancke,David V. Ford,Ginevra Brown,Ken Leake +7 more
TL;DR: The aim of this work was to develop and implement an accurate matching process to enable the assignment of a unique Anonymous Linking Field (ALF) to person-based records to make the SAIL databank ready for record-linkage research studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The SAIL Databank: building a national architecture for e-health research and evaluation
David V. Ford,Kerina H. Jones,Jean Philippe Verplancke,Ronan A Lyons,Gareth John,Ginevra Brown,Caroline J. Brooks,Simon Thompson,Owen Bodger,Tony Couch,Ken Leake +10 more
TL;DR: The pragmatic approach that has been adopted has been able to address the key challenges in establishing a national databank of anonymised person-based records, so that the data are available for research and evaluation whilst meeting the requirements of Information Governance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of neighbourhood deprivation and social cohesion on mental health inequality: a multilevel population-based longitudinal study
David Lawrence Fone,James White,Daniel Farewell,Megan Kelly,Gareth John,Keith Lloyd,Gregory E Williams,Frank David John Dunstan +7 more
TL;DR: Residence in the most deprived neighbourhoods was negatively associated with change in mental health, after adjusting for baseline individual socio-economic risk factors and transitions in life events, but this negative effect was significantly reduced in high social cohesion neighbourhoods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Residential Anonymous Linking Fields (RALFs): a novel information infrastructure to study the interaction between the environment and individuals' health
Sarah Rodgers,Ronan A Lyons,Rohan Dsilva,Kerina H. Jones,Caroline J. Brooks,David V. Ford,Gareth John,Jean-Philippe Verplancke +7 more
TL;DR: The possibility of creating anonymous links between individual residences and the local environment using digital map data and a data linkage system is demonstrated and potentially enables flexible fine-scale, large-area observational studies of communities and health.
Journal ArticleDOI

Connor,Chris Taylor,Richard Pugh,Peter J. Diggle,Gareth John,Simon Scourfield,Joe Hunt,Anne Marie Cunningham,Kathryn Helliwell,Ronan A Lyons +38 more
TL;DR: This work aims to provide an accessible research platform to determine demographic, socioeconomic and clinical risk factors for infection, morbidity and mortality of CO VID-19, to measure the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare utilisation and long-term health, and to enable the evaluation of natural experiments of policy interventions.
