Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon‐Directed Nazarov Cyclizations. Part V. Substituent and heteroatom effects on the reaction

TL;DR: The ability to incorporate alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, and heteroatomic groups into substrates for the silicon-directed Nazarov cyclization and their subsequent reactions has been investigated in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon-directed nazarov cyclizations-IV : Further studies in stereochemical control

TL;DR: The silicon-directed Nazarov cyclization was shown to proceed with good to excellent stereoselectivity in cyclohexenyl systems bearing a variety of ring substituents as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicon‐Directed Nazarov Cyclizations. Part VI. The anomalous cyclization of vinyl dienyl ketones

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of substituents on the rate of reaction is discussed in terms of the mechanism of the rearrangement, and a 13C-labeling study establishes the pathway as an unusual 1-hydroxypentadienyl-cation electrocyclization to a cyclopentenyl cation which collapses via a pinacol rearrange to the α-vinyl ketone.
