TL;DR: A dilated optic nerve sheath was demonstrated by contact B-scan ultrasonography in two cases and by computerized tomography in the third case, suggesting intravaginal sheath hemorrhage as a common underlying pathophysiologic process.

TL;DR: The cases of 23 patients with untreated cilioretinal artery obstruction were reviewed and two distinct groups were found: 90% of eyes achieved 6/12 or better vision and there was a high incidence of associated atherosclerotic carotid disease.
Abstract: The cases of 23 patients with untreated cilioretinal artery obstruction were reviewed. Three distinct groups were found: (1) isolated cilioretinal artery obstruction, (2) cilioretinal artery obstruction associated with central retinal venous obstruction, and (3) cilioretinal artery obstruction in conjunction with ischemic optic neuropathy. In the first group 90% of eyes achieved 6/12 or better vision and there was a high incidence of associated atherosclerotic carotid disease. In the second group, 70% of eyes improved to 6/12 or better, while in the last group no eye reached better than 6/120 vision.

TL;DR: Severe iatrogenic complications reported following direct focal treatment of sea fans, such as vitreous hemorrhage, progressive traction retinal detachment, retinal breaks, and choroidal-retinal-vitreal neovascularization were virtually eliminated.

TL;DR: A series of 24 consecutive pars plana posterior vitrectomies in children is reported, finding that postoperative visual acuities improved in 59%, were unchanged in 23%, and worsened in 28%.
Abstract: A series of 24 consecutive pars plana posterior vitrectomies in children is reported. The postoperative visual acuities improved in 59%, were unchanged in 23%, and worsened in 28%. Trauma was the most common predisposing etiologic factor to vitrectomy and accounted for 59% of cases. Boys in the series outnumbered girls by a ratio of nearly 3:1, a factor most likely attributable to the high incidence of trauma. In no case did visual loss occur as a direct result of vitrectomy.

TL;DR: The association of central retinal artery obstruction with neovascular glaucoma usually occurs secondary to atherosclerotic carotid artery disease and there is little information to suggest that central retina artery obstruction alone is responsible for ocular neov vascularization.

TL;DR: The eye can be affected by obstructive phenomena within large vessels, such as the corotid arteries, as well as in the ophthalmic artery, central retinal artery, and branch retinal arteries.
Abstract: The eye can be affected by obstructive phenomena within large vessels, such as the corotid arteries, as well as in the ophthalmic artery, central retinal artery, and branch retinal arteries. The visual impairment seen with central retinal vein obstruction usually occurs over a period of days to weeks, and although vision improves spontaneously in some eyes, in others it deteriorates to the same degree as that in eyes with arterial obstruction. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of legal blindness in the US, generally affecting the older population.
