Pair creation of extremal black holes and Kaluza-Klein monopoles.
Fay Dowker,Fay Dowker,Jerome P. Gauntlett,Jerome P. Gauntlett,Steven B. Giddings,Steven B. Giddings,Gary T. Horowitz,Gary T. Horowitz +7 more
TL;DR: The extremal limit of classical solutions describing charged dilaton black holes accelerating in a background magnetic field is studied, showing that near the event horizon the extremal solutions reduce precisely to the static extremal black hole solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asymptotically Simple Does Not Imply Asymptotically Minkowskian.
Robert Geroch,Gary T. Horowitz +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a space-time which satisfies the conditions for an asymptotic region which is not '' as large'' as that of Minkowski space time is given.
Journal ArticleDOI
Semiclassical relativity: The weak-field limit
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the linearized quantum stress energy can be determined in a manner which is essentially independent of the details of any regularization prescription, and the solution of the linearised semiclassical Einstein equation can be found using this expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Positive energy in general relativity
Robert Geroch,Gary T. Horowitz +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an argument is given in favor of the conjecture that an isolated system in general relativity must have nonnegative total energy, which is the same as the one in this paper.
