Journal ArticleDOI
The pathophysiology of retinopathy of prematurity: an update of previous and recent knowledge
Giacomo Cavallaro,Luca Filippi,Paola Bagnoli,Giancarlo la Marca,Gloria Cristofori,Genny Raffaeli,Letizia Padrini,Gabriella Araimo,Monica Fumagalli,Michela Groppo,Massimo Dal Monte,Silvia Osnaghi,Patrizio Fiorini,Fabio Mosca +13 more
TL;DR: All factors that can mediate the progression from the avascular to the proliferative phase might have significant implications for the further understanding and treatment of ROP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Breastfeeding Difficulties and Risk for Early Breastfeeding Cessation.
Maria Lorella Giannì,Maria Lorella Giannì,Maria Enrica Bettinelli,Priscilla Manfra,Gabriele Sorrentino,Elena Bezze,Laura Plevani,Giacomo Cavallaro,Genny Raffaeli,Beatrice Letizia Crippa,Beatrice Letizia Crippa,Lorenzo Colombo,Daniela Morniroli,Daniela Morniroli,Nadia Liotto,Nadia Liotto,Paola Roggero,Paola Roggero,Eduardo Villamor,Paola Marchisio,Paola Marchisio,Fabio Mosca,Fabio Mosca +22 more
TL;DR: Maternal perception of not having a sufficient amount of milk, infant’s failure to thrive, mastitis, and the return to work were associated with a higher risk of non-exclusive breastfeeding at three months whereas vaginal delivery and breastfeeding support after hospital discharge wereassociated with a decreased risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Propranolol 0.2% Eye Micro-Drops for Retinopathy of Prematurity: A Prospective Phase IIB Study.
Luca Filippi,Giacomo Cavallaro,Giacomo Cavallaro,Elettra Berti,Letizia Padrini,Gabriella Araimo,Giulia Regiroli,Giulia Regiroli,Genny Raffaeli,Genny Raffaeli,Valentina Bozzetti,Paolo Tagliabue,Barbara Tomasini,Annalisa Mori,Giuseppe Buonocore,Massimo Agosti,Angela Bossi,Gaetano Chirico,Salvatore Aversa,Pina Fortunato,Silvia Osnaghi,Barbara Cavallotti,Martina Suzani,Maurizio Vanni,Giulia Borsari,Simone Donati,Giuseppe Nascimbeni,Daniel Nardo,Stefano Piermarocchi,Giancarlo la Marca,Giulia Forni,Silvano Milani,Ivan Cortinovis,Maura Calvani,Paola Bagnoli,Massimo Dal Monte,Anna Maria Calvani,Alessandra Pugi,Eduardo Villamor,Gianpaolo Donzelli,Fabio Mosca,Fabio Mosca +41 more
TL;DR: Propranolol administered too early appears to favor a more aggressive ROP, suggesting that a β-adrenoreceptor blockade is only useful during the proliferative phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: Update on Diagnostic and Therapeutic Strategies
Genny Raffaeli,Giacomo Cavallaro,K. Allegaert,Enno D. Wildschut,Monica Fumagalli,Massimo Agosti,Dick Tibboel,Fabio Mosca +7 more
TL;DR: Key points for use of recommended therapies are outlined, and directions for future research are suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chorioamnionitis as a risk factor for retinopathy of prematurity: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis.
Eduardo Villamor-Martinez,Giacomo Cavallaro,Genny Raffaeli,Owais M. M. Mohammed Rahim,Silvia Gulden,Amro M. T. Ghazi,Fabio Mosca,Pieter L.J. Degraeuwe,Eduardo Villamor +8 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that CA is a risk factor for developing ROP, however, part of the effects of CA on the pathogenesis of ROP may be mediated by the role of CA as an etiological factor for very preterm birth.
