The role of radiotherapy in cancer treatment: estimating optimal utilization from a review of evidence-based clinical guidelines.

TL;DR: This study estimates the ideal proportion of new cases of cancer that should receive radiotherapy at least once during the course of their illness based on the best available evidence to identify areas where improvements in the evidence‐based use of radiotherapy can be made.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimating the demand for radiotherapy from the evidence: A review of changes from 2003 to 2012

TL;DR: The overall optimal radiotherapy utilisation rate (external beam radiotherapy) for all registered cancers in Australia changed from 52.3% in 2003 to 48.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictors of local recurrence after treatment of ductal carcinoma in situ - A meta-analysis

TL;DR: The patients with risk factors of presence of necrosis, high grade cytologic features, or comedo subtype were found to derive the greatest improvement in local control with the addition of RT to CS, and the authors recommend that radiation be added to CS if patients with DCIS who also have the risk factors for local recurrence choose breast conservation over mastectomy.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Potential for an Enhanced Role for MRI in Radiation-Therapy Treatment Planning:

TL;DR: The paper outlines publications that deal with standard MRI sequences used in current clinical practice and discusses the potential for using processed functional diffusion maps (fDM) derived from diffusion weighted image sequences in tracking tumor activity and tumor recurrence.
Journal ArticleDOI

A standard set of value-based patient-centered outcomes for breast cancer: The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) initiative

TL;DR: The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement assembled a multidisciplinary international working group, comprised of 26 health care providers and patient advocates, to develop a standard set of value-based patient-centered outcomes for breast cancer (BC).
